Our modern society rewards people for being “busy.” Occasionally, it can feel like we aren’t doing enough effort if we don’t look or appear buried in work. This behavior can lead to overwhelm, where we feel there’s not enough time to do everything we want.
It’s not that overwhelm is inevitable, you can live an optimal life without ever dealing with it. It’s not that you need to overcome overwhelm when you feel it, it’s a matter of managing resources strategically.
The problem is not feeling overwhelm itself, but being addicted to the hustle and struggle as if it were a justification that we are productive people and pulling our weight in society. We are very capable of getting things done, but we feel we have to do it while feeling overworked to feel worthy.
On top of that, feeling overwhelmed carries negative emotions with it. Among them are stress, fatigue, anxiety, and in severe cases, depression. These emotions can trigger physical responses, manifesting real symptoms and even illnesses that require medical prevention.
Before you can begin releasing your attachment to the appearance of being busy, you need to dwindle the anxious feelings that relate to overwhelm. It can be done by using EFT Tapping.
Being by acknowledging what makes you feel anxious and fatigued. It’s safe to pronounce them out loud when you’re doing it while tapping on the meridian point. The purpose is to clear these unfavorable emotions, their effect on your mind and body, and create a space where confident feelings can emerge.
Clearing the effect of the stress, anxiety, and other adverse feelings makes us feel lighter. If you have been feeling overwhelmed for years, then you can experience a deep relief and relaxation through Tapping. You begin to see that all the tasks you have lined up are doable.
Here is a Tapping script from Brad Yates to help you relieve overwhelm:
Karate Chop: Eventhough I feel overwhelmed, I choose to love and accept myself
Eventhough I feel overwhelmed, I choose to love and honor myself
Eventhough I feel overwhelmed, too much to do, too much on my plate, I’m only just one person, and there are so many demands being made on me, so many expectations, so much that I have to do in so little time that I feel I’m going to burst, and even though I am so overwhelmed, I choose to deeply and completely love honor and accept myself and everyone else who is invovled in this
Eye Brow: I feel so overwhelmed
Side of Eye: I feel so overwhelmed
Under Eye: There’s too much to do
Under Nose: Too little time
Chin: I feel so stressed out
Collarbone: It’s hard to think straight
Under Arm: It’s wearing me out
Top of Head: And I don’t know how I’m going to survive it
And I choose to start clearing it
I choose to clear it out
Clearing out all this stress
Clearing all the ways it’s affecting me negatively
Clearing that out
I need to do this for myself
I deserve to do this
Among all the things that I need to do
I need to take care of myself
Because if I really need to do all these things
If all these things are dependent upon me
Then I need to be around to do them
And they won’t get done if I explode
So I choose to take care of myself
And I’m allowing myself to relax right now
Allowing myself to clear my head
