When dealing with emotional stress or physical pain, our feelings directly impact our ability to heal and recover. Gratitude is one of the most influential feelings that affect our body’s natural healing ability. There’s a connection between our emotions and our health that indicate expressing gratitude is a worthwhile practice.
This connection is reported by The Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology that studied groups of volunteers who practiced gratitude versus a different group that didn’t practice it. The group that had a gratitude journal containing a list of items they were grateful for experienced increased wellness, boosted energy, and decreasing health issues.
Not only that, the report also states gratitude is connected to goal achievement. It means how you feel affects both our well-being and also how effective we can reach our goals in life. That should give us enough motivation to start practicing more gratitude daily.
How Do You Practice Gratitude?
The definition of gratitude is to “show appreciation and return kindness.” You can practice more thankfulness by appreciating the experience you’re having, the people around you, the place you live in or do your activities, and other ways.
These items by themselves don’t necessarily make you happy, but when you pay attention to them and appreciate them, you are expressing gratitude and being in the flow of the moment. Being in flow can increase your happiness.
Similar to the volunteers of the study above, you can write a gratitude journal to appreciate the moments that happen during the day. Other than being in the moment and writing it down, you ought to apply EFT Tapping to anchor the gratitude.
Using EFT Tapping for Gratitude
Tapping helps to resolve emotional issues that have been stuck with us for years. It can also help to embed new, positive emotions to replace the negative ones that have been eliminated with Tapping.
Using Tapping, you can embed gratitude and appreciation by tapping on the meridian points while you say out loud the moments that you appreciate today. Some people like to tap on the collarbone point since it’s near to the heart, but you can tap on the other points if it’s more comfortable.
Remember that gratitude is also connected to achieving goals. Other than saying what you are thankful for today, you can also say what you want to reach in the future while you are Tapping.
Here is a tapping script for Brad Yates on the topic of expressing gratitude. You can follow the abbreviated script below the video:

I choose to feel a lot of appreciation and I choose to love and honor myself
I choose to feel a lot of appreciation for things that are in my life
Eyebrow: I choose to feel gratitude
Side of Eye: I choose to feel appreciation
Under Eye: I choose to appreciate myself
Under Nose: I love myself
Chin: I appreciate myself
Collarbone: I appreciate my body
Under Arm: I love my body
Top of Head: It helps me get through the day in so many ways
My body allows me to do so many things
I really love and appreciate my body
I love and appreciate the people in my life
They give me so much
Sometimes they give me a lot of love
And sometimes they give me challenges to help me grow
And I really appreciate that
I love and appreciate the change to grow
I love and appreciate where I live
There are many good things it offers me
And I choose to feel love and gratitude for all of it
Sometimes it shows me what I don’t want
Which helps me be more clear about what I do want
And I really love and appreciate that
I love and appreciate this planet
There are so many opportunities to do things I love
