There are many definitions about abundance. A popular definition is that abundance is money flowing into your life continuously. That is true, but abundance can be defined in other ways that help us to connect better with the energy that we call abundance and attract it into our lives.
In the 2018 Tapping World Summit, Carol Look, a well-known expert on Tapping, defines abundance as passion, optimism, excitement and freedom. She says that abundance is allowing success to come into our lives without as much effort as when we are disconnected from abundance. I agree with what Carol says, and my passion is finding out how to achieve more success with less effort.
We feel far from abundance when we work hard but we don’t get the results we want. We may get some results, but it’s far from our initial imagination. When we’re in this condition, we can feel stuck, trapped and as if we are going nowhere. We think that what we need is more hard work but what we should be doing is managing our emotions to connect with abundance.
Carol says that the blocks to attracting abundance into our lives are the feelings, limiting beliefs, and bad behaviors that we carry. It’s not about what we need to do, it’s about how we feel about doing it. Our feelings that make us feel helpless and our beliefs that we can’t do it or that it won’t work affect success more than our actual actions.
That’s where Tapping becomes valuable, it helps to address the feelings, beliefs, and behaviors that make up our mental picture of abundance. These emotions get in the way. Once we tap on them, we eliminate them so that we can take action without being burdened by feelings and beliefs.
Carol gives the three most important steps to take to free ourselves from feelings that keep us trapped and trick us into believing that we are powerless. The steps are a simplification of the true path to success, but it can still help us make significant progress, especially when we are prisoners of emotion.
1. The Power of Clarity
Clarity often becomes the first step of any attempt to build success. It’s very important and without it we can’t achieve success. However, I see that we still misunderstand clarity and therefore we aren’t clear about clarity itself. This blurriness about clarity can make it very difficult for us to take the first step.
Interestingly, Carol discovers that some of her patients are actually afraid to get clear. They are scared to step out and move forward with their projects and goals because it means that change will happen, whether they like it or not.
The prospect of your life changing is scary for many people, and therefore they purposely stay behind the veil of blurriness so that they have a reason not to venture out into the unknown, but clear, future.
When you can identify that clarity scares you, you can tap on the fear until it subsides. Once you no longer feel afraid about seeing clearly, then you can begin to take the steps down the path to success.
2. Eliminate Sabotage
The second step Carol recommends is to stop sabotaging ourselves. It sounds counter-intuitive, but we can get in our own way and prevent ourselves from becoming successful. That’s because working towards success means we become exposed to new threats and dangers. Our brain wants to keep dangerous threats away from us and stay safe, so it sends out signals and thoughts that prevent us taking the necessary steps.
It’s not that our brain is faulty, it’s actually working perfectly. When we cross the street, our brain signals us to see left and right to make sure there’s no threat coming our way. Similarly, when we experience a new environment or project, our brain sends out distress signals to make us scan for potential danger, and we feel afraid and stressed.
We sabotage ourselves when we follow these distress signals instead of knowing that there is no real physical danger (but if there is then secure it immediately). Tapping on feeling threatened by potential danger can help us to calm our emotions and act in the favor of our success.
3. Voice Your Gratitude
Other than eliminating helpless feelings, we can empower ourselves with positive feelings. A common idea besides being clear about your fears and goals is expressing gratitude. However, like developing clarity, many people know that gratitude is important but they don’t practice it.
Gratitude changes our frequency so that we become more attractive to opportunities. We become more attractive to the people who can give us those opportunities. Would you give a great opportunity to someone who you see as sulking and broody and always blaming other people and the world for his condition? I don’t think so, and I wouldn’t either. I would give an opportunity to someone I know for sure will appreciate it.
Yesterday, I practiced expressing gratitude by being thankful for running electricity, a stable internet connection, and healing meditation videos on YouTube so that my wife and I can fall asleep while listening to healing sounds. The best gratitude is for when abundance does come in your life, such as landing a client, a big commission, or getting a promotion or bonus. But being grateful for the simple things can give you the same boost of positive energy, plus it occurs more often than big events.
Those are the three aspects of attracting abundance. Tap on the emotional components of fear about clarity, fear about doing new things, and tap while expressing gratitude to build that positive emotion and allow abundance to enter your life with less effort.
