One of the obstacles that can get in the way of you making money is what you believe about it. A prevalent belief is that money and spirituality can’t go hand in hand; you either have one or the other. If practicing spirituality is important for you, you could be one of the people who believe money isn’t pure, and even “dirty.” Therefore, you tend to reject or repel money away from you.
But is that belief true? Is it impossible to become spiritual and be comfortable having money come into your life? According to Pamela Bruner’s session in the 2014 Tapping World Summit, money is simply a magnifier. If you are a good person, money magnifies your kindness and compassion, and if you are a selfish person, then money magnifies that selfishness.
When you see money as a magnifier, you realize that it is neutral. You can be a kind person and receive money, while respecting other people’s rights and fulfilling your needs. There’s no need to “sacrifice” yourself to help other people; you can do it while doing a financial transaction that is agreeable for both sides.
The Emotion Beneath Your Belief
You can identify your beliefs to see whether they obstruct you from receiving money or not. When you feel a reaction or a feeling that money is “dirty”, ask yourself what’s the emotion underneath it? What is the true cause that makes you think that money isn’t important or not a good thing?
In my experience, when we see money as not a good thing, it’s because there is a fear beneath it. There is something that makes us afraid to receive more money, or some trauma in the past that makes us rather not have money. For me, I found that I am afraid of taking bigger responsibilities, afraid of not living up to other people’s expectations and disappointing them.
That fear gets in the way of you building the correct beliefs that will make money flow into your life. You can’t reframe your mind until you remove the fear, as Pamela says. That’s why it’s urgent that you dissolve that fear by understanding it correctly and setting up the right boundaries.
Dissolve the Fear to Reframe Your Beliefs
In my case, I am afraid of bigger responsibilities when they aren’t clear. If I’m clear about what I am responsible for, I can measure whether I can do it or not, and accept it or not. I can figure out what people expect of me, and reply whether I can fulfill it within the given time frame or not.
It does take time to dissolve your fears. It’s possible to eliminate your fears quickly if you know the root cause of it, but in most cases you will work on it like peeling layers of an onion. There may be a fear beneath your fear, and you will resolve it only when you get to the base fear.
The reward for clearing your fear is that you can be resourceful and creative. It’s difficult to come up with creative ideas to solve problems when you are overwhelmed by fear. Yet, resourcefulness and creativity is important to achieve your goal. That’s why you need to eliminate the fears that result in limiting beliefs keeping you from attracting the money you want in life.
